I am a genuine old fashioned part-time bookbinder. I have developed a unique repair and restoration service for hardcover books utilized by houses of workshp, private schools, and personal libraries.
People cherish certain books, usually out-of-print, reference, and religious books, and those of sentimental value. They are eager to have them repaired/restored/rebound at a reasonable price and quick return.
I can do this work at $5.00 per book (minimum 50 at a time) at clients' location within a 50 mile radius of New York City. Those with this request can contact Book Savior at 201-837-0489.
My next project, hopefully with SCORE's assistance, will be to try to connect with veterans, group homes, and others outside of the mainstream workforce, with opportunites as sales respresentatives or bookbinders. I look forward to training others with my bookbinding method and assisting others to learn a new trade/skill.
Several times a year I meet with the SCORE Northeast New Jersey Chapter to discuss ways to give my service more exposure. One mentor asked to see my business card and suggested an improvement... bookmarks!
She pointed out that people lose business cards and a bookmark is just so appropriate for my business. I contacted my local printer who said producing just one bookmark would be less expensive - and better received - than printing three sets of cards.
